…her version is definitely different from any of our versions!
“Everyone’s up to something,” Taylor Swift sang in “Sweet Nothing.” And she was right — she most definitely was up to something during this past month. She obviously still has the Eras Tour, which was on the other side of the world this month, but she also got closer to her new album’s release (only a year and a half after her last album, and during her tour, etcetera). She hung out with her boyfriend and spent time with Sabrina Carpenter, the opener of her Eras Tour for a few countries. She also had some major career milestones.
Finally, despite her publicity issues in February regarding her private jet, she maintained her influence over many people. But you would probably be surprised to know what else she has a bit of power over… in fact, I doubt that she even saw this coming when she was planning the tour. Keep reading to find out!
The Singapore concerts and its influence on tourism in Asia
In early March, Swift performed six times in Singapore. Special songs during those nights in Southeast Asia included “Cowboy Like Me,” “You’re on Your Own, Kid” and “Tim McGraw.” Celebrity audience members ranged from her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who was also in Australia for some of her shows, Lisa from Blackpink, Minho from Shinee, and Barry Keoghan. Keoghan was even spotted waiting for Carpenter off-stage, much like Kelce has done for Swift in the past. You love to see the girls thriving!
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew was also at one of the shows, which is interesting because of how much TikTok has allowed fans who haven’t attended any of the concerts to see them from the view of other fans. While it was cool to watch the movie, I personally loved that Swifties were posting videos on TikTok because I could feel what it was really like to be there!
You may have noticed that Swift’s decisions when it comes to her Eras Tour have had a significant influence on the economy and even the political world. Now, the political influence has gone international as the nation of Singapore confirmed in a press conference that they paid a large sum of money to Swift to ensure that Singapore would be her only stop in Southeast Asia. Other political figures from Southeast Asian countries were unhappy with this deal, which was reportedly worth millions.
This was a valuable deal for the country as this could influence more tourists — particularly young ones — to visit. You may remember how last summer, the concerts across the United States led to increased tourism and spending in the cities they were held in, plus airfare because so many Swifties were willing to travel far just to see her. Something similar is happening here, and lawmakers in each respective country see that.
Carpenter’s tenure with the tour has ended
After the March shows were completed, Carpenter’s time as the opener for the tour’s shows came to an end as well. The “Feather” singer posted a heartfelt Instagram post about her time performing in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Australia and Singapore. She said she is especially thankful for Swift’s generosity during this time.
“Sitting at home reflecting on what a whirlwind this was and how very honored I feel to have been part of it,” the caption read. “I want to thank every crowd for being so welcoming and generous to us and making some of the most impressive friendship bracelets I’ve ever received.”
During her time as opener, she once had her act canceled due to weather, which led to them singing two duets together during another show: Swift’s “White Horse” and “Coney Island.” In a separate Instagram post about that, Carpenter joked about how this was a dream come true for her.
“9 year old Sabrina singing white horse would never see this s— coming!” the caption read.
The next leg of the tour will start in May and will be in Europe, and those shows will be opened by Paramore.
After the Singapore concerts
After the shows in Singapore, this leg of the Eras tour was officially over. Swift captioned an Instagram post with the words: “See you in May when we get back to the Eras Tour!! In the meantime I’ve got an album to release… ???.”
After getting back to the States, Swift and Kelce attended the Oscars afterparty, hosted by Gucci. This was a truly star-studded event — Anya Taylor Joy, Billie Eilish and a lot of other significant names were at the party.
Swift and Kelce being at these kinds of events together will certainly influence both of their careers, and it already has. She has never really dated anyone for this long who had such an influence on others, so being there together as a solidly A-list couple in two different industries with such a grip on Americans and people all over the world is a huge deal for her.
I’m not saying she needs a man — she already had an extremely lucrative career without him — but this is definitely interesting.
Earlier in March, Swift announced another song going on The Tortured Poets Department
As if she wasn’t over-achieving enough, Swift announced in early March that she added a new song to The Tortured Poets Department, which comes out in April. The very lucky audience at the March 3 show in Melbourne got to hear this news live. The new song is called “The Bolter,” and some cover art that the singer posted on Instagram teased a possible line in the song: “You don’t get to tell me about sad.” I’m getting the same vibes as “All Too Well: 10 Minute Version” and “the lakes.”
The Eras Tour movie debuted in mid-March and broke records
Unsurprisingly, the Eras Tour movie on Disney+ (which was also on Amazon Prime Video for a little bit) released on March 14 broke records — just like everything she does! It was the most streamed concert film that has ever been released on Disney+, with 16.2 million hours of views in just three days.
The movie also made over 260 million dollars worldwide. It included additional songs, like “cardigan” and “Maroon,” that were not on the Amazon Prime Video version. So, if you watched on Amazon Prime but want to watch her sing what are arguably two of her best songs, make sure you take a look at the version on Disney+.
More recently, Kelce and Swift went to the Bahamas
Okay, I feel kind of bad including this because the paparazzi violated their privacy while they were on a much-needed vacation. But so many outlets already reported on this, and everyone has seen the pictures by now. The picture where she appears to be yelling at him is, in my opinion, actually a picture of her ranting about something to him. He seems like he’d be a good listener!
While they were in the Bahamas, they stayed at the Rosalita House on Harbour Island.
The house has a secluded beach, three butlers and two chefs. Like her old house in Rhode Island, it is shielded by nature — there is a 25 foot dune blocking it from the outside world. The back area of her Rhode Island home had the water, and then huge boulders right up to the point of land.
The trip attracted paparazzi, who got several photos of the couple (like the one where she seems mad), including one of Kelce with his hand on Swift’s rear as they lay on the beach. Some fans were excited to see the singer in what seems to be a really great relationship, but others were annoyed with paparazzi for violating their privacy. Some also commented on the fact that this isn’t really newsworthy; personally, I can see how this story would be more appropriate for Taypedia than sites that cover the news.
Side note: I didn’t see this get reported, but some Instagram and TikTok comments alluded to Swift seemingly gaining a little bit of weight and looking really healthy. The reason I focus on comments rather than media coverage on this is because it was really nice to see fans say something good about someone gaining weight.
This might have something to do with her admitting her unhealthy eating habits in her movie “Miss Americana,” but I hope this becomes more normalized for other celebrities and all people.
Closing March out with another record broken
We can all pat ourselves on the back for helping Swift break this record: as of the end of March, Swift’s ten single solo records all have over one billion listens on Spotify. The most-listened to single out of them all is “Cruel Summer,” with a total number of streams of 1,239,311,929. It reached that landmark at the end of last summer, when it was charting, and Swift acknowledged her fans for listening to it so much. The reason it was such a big deal, though, is because it is incredible that it would reach this landmark over four years after it first came out.

In conclusion…
Swift had a great month, based on all of this news alone. She performed in countries where she holds enough influence that government leaders are literally fighting over her — which, admittedly, could be considered good or bad. But not too long ago, many powerful people were talking poorly of her, so I feel like being “wanted” by everyone right now has to feel at least a little bit good.
She also broke records, hung out with her A-lister football superstar boyfriend and worked on the album coming out next month. And soon, in the April news roundup, I’ll be able to write all about The Tortured Poets Department and any news that might circulate its release.
